Horse Riding

Horse riding is one of the most popular holiday activities to enjoy in Elche. The fantastic weather and glorious surrounding countryside provide ideal conditions for horse riding. Spain, and especially the region of Andalusia have a proud equestrian history and breed some magnificent horses. Within a short drive from Elche are the picturesque salt lakes of Santa Pola, Torrevieja and La Mata. These provide areas of natural park where the nature trails are perfect to explore on horseback. Further hiking and horse riding trails can be found along the shores of Lake Pedrera.

Horse Riding In Elche

Elche is home to four riding schools. These offer private and group riding lessons for most age groups and experience levels. When not full these riding schools usually offer livery. Some also offer a choice of horse riding hacks. This may be dependent on how busy their staff are with riding lessons though. Adiestrador Canino En Alicante is located on Carrer Arquitecte Verde on the outskirts of the city centre. Dasilva is located in the Plaza de Altabix, 72 in the Poligono industrial area. Ngorong Ngorong are located on Partida Vallongas, 35 just off the CV-8615. Escuela de Equitacion Delvic is located just off the AP-7 motorway junction.

Surrounding Horse Riding

Casa La Pedrera – This beautiful villa lies close to the shores of Lake Pedrera. They operate as a multi-activity centre with exciting activities for all ages. They offer riding lessons as well as a choice of hacks around the lake. Families are welcome and they have Shetland ponies for kids.

Lo Rufete Adventure Park – Also located close to the lake shore, Lo Rufete offer further excellent activities. Horse riding lessons are offered privately or in groups. Hacks around the lake are from 25 minutes to 2 hours. This amazing place is superb for a family outing with several other activities available. They offer visitors free use of their swimming pool and BBQ facilities.

Villa Salada – This is a magical place, especially in the evenings when they feature combined dinner and flamenco shows. They also do a mesmerising flamenco and equestrian show. During the day visitors can enjoy 1 hour horse riding treks around Torrevieja's salt lake. They have 30 minute treks on Shetland ponies for the young ones, and lessons for beginners to advanced.

El Rancho – As the name suggests, this wonderful ranch boasts a real cowboy experience. What sets them apart is the availability of accommodation in quaint wooden cabins or luxury rooms. There is a lovely on-site social club with a bar and restaurant. Horse riding treks are offered around Torrevieja's salt lake and they have pony rides for smaller children. One, two or three hour hacks are available, as are riding lessons for beginners and advanced students.


Hiking in Elche and its wonderful surrounding countryside is a pleasurable experience. This is an activity that all the family can enjoy absolutely free. As far as cities go, you couldn't choose a better setting for hiking than Elche.
