Restaurants in Elche are predominantly Spanish, with a small selection of foreign eateries and popular international chains. Boasting a lovely setting by the Huerto del Cura Gardens is Restaurante Els Capellans. After exploring the beautiful gardens and palm groves, pop in to the restaurant for a refreshing melon gazpacho, perfect on those scorching summer days. They also do some great rice dishes and an extravagant lobster salad. In this area you can also try La Taronja Tapas Restaurant and El Extremeño Restarante.

Located on Carrer Josep Maria Buck is Restaurante Mesón El Granaino that receives rave reviews. Be prepared to put a dent in the wallet or purse when dining here but you will be treated to a culinary delight. This defiantly is Spanish cuisine at its finest. In this area you can also try Asador Ilicitano and Sinapi Restaurante. A stroll along the banks of the Vinalopo River reveals a good choice of restaurants. There is Restaurante Pernil on Carrer Alfonso XII. Grouped together around Plaça de les Flores two blocks up from the river are three restaurant choices. These are Domgin that does excellent iberico ham, El Galgo for a great lemon tart, and L'Anima.

International Restaurants

The cafes and restaurants located in L'aljub Commercial Centre are a good family choice. There really is something for everyone. Telepizza, KFC, McDonald's and Haagen-Dazs are a favourite with the young ones. Cantina Mariachi offers spicy Mexican favourites. Udon is the place for delicious noodles. And then you have Fosters Hollywood and Cotton grill for family favourites. When visiting you can also shop till you drop in a number of stores or catch a movie at Cines ABC.

Located on Plaça Glorieta next to the little park is Lungo Mare Italian Restaurant. This is a stylish establishment offering well presented dishes and delicious pizzas. On the other side of the park is a Don Patata stall and Novaibense Ice Cream Parlour. For those who are craving sushi, head for Plaça de la Constitució. Here you will find Eki Sushi that comes highly recommended and also do home delivery. Along Carrer Almórida is the Turkish Restaurante Turco for that all essential kebab after a night on the town. Of course, a good holiday would not be complete without the ever popular Chinese. There are several in the city, some offering an all you can eat buffet.
