Murcia-San Javier Airport
Murcia-San Javier Airport services much of Costa Blanca south and is around 50 minutes drive from Elche. It is the smaller of the two airports that are handy for travel to Elche, the other being Alicante Airport. Since its opening, Murcia-San Javier Airport has gone from strength to strength and has twice received the Best Airport Award in the fewer than two million passenger category. It is a pleasure to fly into, with most passengers clearing airport control in less than 30 minutes.
Murcia-San Javier Airport Facilities
A charming aspect of the airport is the quaint wooden outdoor cafe bar. Serving ice cold beers, wine, soft drinks and snacks, the bar gives passengers a taste of their holiday to come. Next door to this is a recently opened Costa Coffee outlet. Inside, the terminal is bright and spacious with ample seating areas and a Serunion Restaurant. Here, passengers and visitors can choose from a good selection of hot and cold drinks, a variety of snacks and choice of more substantial meals.
Once through to the departures lounge, passengers can enjoy further eateries and browse a small selection of shops. These include a further Serunion Restaurant, Ibérica Gourmet Shop, Subway sandwich bar and Gelattos & Mojitos Bar. Shops include the all important Duty Free, Marga Shoes and ALB Accessories. Further comfortable seating areas are found throughout departures.

Throughout the airport's public and passenger zones are ample toilets. These are modern and clean and offer baby changing facilities. There are passenger and tourist information points. Here passengers with reduced mobility can enquire about the meeting point for assistance. There is also a left luggage point and lost and found. A free WiFi zone is available, as are ATM machines.
Murcia-San Javier Airport Parking
The public car park at Murcia-San Javier Airport is conveniently located a few metres from the terminal. Visitors just picking up or dropping off passengers can do so free of charge. When entering the airport stick to the lane without a boom gate. This will take you straight to the terminal building. Here there is a zone to pick up and drop off but do not leave your vehicle unattended. Visitors staying for a while need to enter one of the boom gates and take a ticket. There are ample parking spaces and prices for parking are reasonable. Long term is available.
Murcia-San Javier Airport Transport
Unfortunately there is no bus service whatsoever from the airport. Passengers are welcome to use the services of a taxi company of their choosing. However, the airport's registered taxi firm is Santiago de la Rebera Taxis. By using this company passengers can keep track of any luggage that may have been left behind or have a back up if any problems occur. Car hire companies that are represented at the airport include Goldcar, Europcar and Firefly. Should you wish to use the services of an independent car hire company, Elche Insider always recommend Coys Rent-A-Car.
