Carmen del Campillo Tea House is located in the countryside between Albatera and Crevillent, about 20 minutes drive from Elche. Upon entering the ornate wrought iron gates, you are greeted with a grand, sprawling villa and equally as impressive gardens. Pretty pathways meander in all directions. These are flanked by flowerbeds and a great array of clay pottery. When exploring the gardens, visitors will find lovely little hidden nooks and crannies. Some of these are adorned with Arabic rugs and cushions to relax and take in the peaceful atmosphere. Among the gardens are beautiful trees, palms, plants and flowers all interspersed with fountains and statues. Visiting Carmen del Campillo Tea House at night is equally as charming with the gardens lit with candles.

Such is the superb landscaping and sprawling design of Carmen del Campillo, it’s difficult to tell just where the garden ends and the villa starts. Garden courtyards draped in bougainvillea spill into inner courtyards festooned with rugs and cushions. Intriguing rough stone stairways lead to upper levels boasting intimate seating areas and quaint little balconies. Rooms filled with works of art and local crafts lead off the main hallways. Intricate latticework and tapestries adorn the walls of the main lounges where archways lead deeper into the villa and its grand old kitchen.

Once you are ready for some refreshments, just find somewhere to relax and the attentive staff will come and find you. They will explain what’s on offer and any daily specials. Their delicious daily offerings include a fine selection of teas and coffee. There are also other hot and cold drinks, milkshakes, an assortment of snacks and choice of cakes and pastries. Visiting at night is a wonderful experience. You can choose to relax in an Arabian style tent or sit under the stars with a comfy blanket for the chill.
