El Corte Inglés is the largest department store group in Europe. Their headquarters are based in Madrid and they boast branches throughout Spain. Outlets range from single department stores to entire shopping centres such as the one in Elche. Translated to English, El Corte Inglés means ‘the English cut. The name came about after the founders of the company originally bought a tailor shop in 1934. The company grew from strength to strength over the years, and today's stores now sell multiple products. Their range of clothing has continued to remain of top quality.
